CEL Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity with the mission of empowering tech-savvy people-powered organizing initiatives.
Nothing happens without people power, and we’ve got some great people. Our team is a bright, dedicated, and diverse group of leaders in their own respective fields that do the heavy lifting behind- the scenes work to make CEL Education Fund run … fast and strong.
William Wimsatt, Board Treasurer
William is a social entrepreneur, philanthropic consultant, journalist, and political organizer. William recently released his new book, Please Don’t Bomb the Suburbs: A Midterm Report on My Generation, and the Future of our Super Movement (Akashic Books). Wimsatt has written for Vibe, Chicago Tribune, Huffington Post, The Nation, and published six books with 100,000+ in print including Bomb the Suburbs, and No More Prisons. He is winner of the Firecracker Book Award for Political Non-Fiction, and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Chicago Headline Club Award for Best First-Person Essay. He has spoken on leadership at dozens of universities including: Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, MIT’s graduate school of Architecture and Urban Planning, and was named by Utne Magazine as “Utne Visionary” and to The Source Magazine’s “Power 30.”
Jenifer Fernandez Ancona
Jenifer Fernandez Ancona is Senior Director of Membership & Communications at the Women Donors Network, a national community of progressive women donors who multiply their impact through shared learning and collective action. She comes to WDN with a wide range of experience in communications, donor organizing, strategy development, grassroots organizing, and multi-racial coalition building. Previously, she worked as Director of Strategic Communications at Citizen Engagement Laboratory, where she helped to launch and grow progressive online organizing initiatives focused on communities of color, including Presente.org and ColorOfChange.org. Jenifer also has served as a Senior Advisor to Steve Phillips and Susan Sandler, as a consultant to the Democracy Alliance, as a top legislative aide in the California State Assembly, and as a news reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Crafting clear communications around a new progressive economic narrative has been a major focus, and her work has included consulting to the Roosevelt Institute, Netroots Nation and National People’s Action.
